SLIS Update

We appreciate the hundreds of letters of support we received from our alumni and friends during the past year. You did a wonderful job of demonstrating how important it is to continue the MLIS program at LSU. The good news is that the proposal to close SLIS has never been sent to the LSU Board of Supervisors. We have a great new group of students who started in January, and we are still accepting applications to admit students for 2012 to begin in June or August. So, if haven't already joined, COME JOIN US AT SLIS.

SLIS at LSU Offers Three Career Specializations

In today's information environment, it is recognized that students may be interested in careers beyond the "traditional" library environment. This recognition led the SLIS faculty to re-examine the curriculum to ensure that we were meeting the needs of all students. Of particular concern were students interested in careers as archivists, and students interested in careers involving information management in a variety of settings.

To meet these needs, we are now offering three specializations: the Library Specialization, the Archives Specialization, and the Information Management Specialization. For details refer to, Required Courses & Specializations Details
