About the Special Libraries Assocation
Special librarians are information professionals who typically work in organizations dedicated to a specific subject area. They are most frequently employed by corporations, private businesses, government agencies, museums, colleges, hospitals, professional associations, and information management consulting firms. The role of a special librarian is to provide access to the most timely, accurate information to the staff and clients of the parent organization.
The Special Libraries Association is an international association representing the interests of thousands of information professionals in over eighty countries worldwide. It is the global organization for innovative information professionals and their strategic partners and promotes and strengthens its members through learning, advocacy, and networking initiatives.
About the American Society for Information Science and Technology
Since 1937, the American Society for Information Science and Technology (ASIS&T) has been the society for information professionals leading the search for new and better theories, techniques, and technologies to improve access to information.
Amazing techniques and technologies evolve daily in the fields of library and information science, communication, networking technologies, and computer science. Yet as isolated groups, information professionals in one field often are insulated from developments in others.
ASIS&T is the only professional society that bridges the gap between the diverse needs of researchers, developers and end users, and between the challenge and opportunities associated with emerging technologies and applications.
